Nutrient Agar in accordance with DEV is used for determination of the total microbial count in water. It is suitable for the cultivation and enumeration of bacteria with average nutrient requirements from water.

General description

Nutrient Agar (in accordance with DEV) is a universal culture medium. It consists of meat peptone and meat extract (1% each) that provide a good nutrient base, allowing growth and detection of the most bacteria found in food and water.
